Low-Cost Air Quality Sensing towards Smart Homes

The evolution of low-cost sensors (LCSs) has made the spatio-temporal mapping indoor air quality (IAQ) possible in real-time but availability a diverse set LCSs make their selection challenging. Converting individual into sensing network requires knowledge research disciplines, which we aim to bring together by making IAQ an advanced feature smart homes. this review is discuss home automation technologies for monitoring and control through networked pollution LCSs. key steps that can allow transforming conventional homes are sensor selection, deployment strategies, data processing, development predictive models. A detailed synthesis allowed us summarise advantages drawbacks IAQ. We concluded performance evaluation under controlled laboratory conditions prior recommended assurance/control (QA/QC), however, routine calibration or implementing statistical techniques during operational times, especially long-term monitoring, required sensors. height could vary purposefully as per location exposure occupants inside environments mapping. Appropriate processing tools needed handle huge amount multivariate automate pre-/post-processing tasks, leading more scalable, reliable adaptable solutions. also showed potential using machine learning technique predicting LCS networked-systems.
